In Hall County, Georgia, the Magistrate Court hears applications for and issues search warrants and arrest warrants. The court conducts hearings on over 18,000 criminal and civil cases every year. It is possible for individuals other than law enforcement officers to request that the court issue a warrant against a suspect. Active warrants, once issued, are processed and filed by office staff members of the Warrant Unit, a part of the Jail Division of the Hall County sheriff's office. They also update the information on law enforcement databases. The other officers of the Warrant Unit, including one lieutenant, two sergeants, and eight deputies, execute the active and outstanding warrants. They also serve parole and probation warrants and bench warrants. Bench warrants are issued if the alleged offender fails to appear before a judge on the set court date. Active warrants are warrants that have been issued for the suspect, but have not yet been executed, and outstanding warrants are active warrants that have remained unexecuted after a certain period of time. Probation and parole warrants are issued in response to the violation of either term.

The Records Division of the sheriff's department will issue a criminal history report for you from the state of Georgia, when shown a valid ID. The report will include adult misdemeanor and felony charges. They will also provide you with a report of adult felony charges, including arrest records, for other individuals. Between the years of 2008 and 2010, there was a total of just over 14,000 crimes committed in Hall County, Georgia. These crimes included murder, rape, assault, vehicle theft, burglary, robbery, and larceny. There was not a great deal of disparity in the total number of crimes committed per year. In 2008 nearly 5,000 crimes were committed, but by the year after that total had dropped slightly, to just under 4,500. In 2010 the number rose again to almost 4,900. Law enforcement officers hope that coming years will show a more significant drop in crime rate in Hall County.
