Crime Statistics of County, GA

In 2019, the Whitfield Sheriff’s Department dealt with approximately 1,450 criminal complaints, as opposed to the more than 2600 cases registered in 2018. These included 1200 non-violent crimes and around 250 violent crimes.

The non-violent crimes category included over 930 larceny thefts, around 190 burglaries, and more than 80 motor vehicle thefts. Of the violent offenses reported, over 190 were aggravated assaults, 45 were rapes and 7 were robberies.

The crime rate in Whitfield County grew by 37% between 1999 and 2008. Of the total crimes committed during this time, the majority of the crimes consisted of theft. However, violent crimes rose by 50% during this time, which is an alarming statistic for this Georgia county. The lowest number of crimes during this period was committed during 2005; however, the following year saw the most significant number of crimes committed during these ten years.
